Download and Print QR Codes
Every QR code you save has a Download button. You find it on the code’s card in your QR code list, on its details page, and on the screen that appears right after you create the code.
Choose a format
Section titled “Choose a format”- PNG - an image at the size set in the code’s design. Use it on websites, in emails and in chats.
- PNG for print - an image made for the print size you choose, at 150, 300 or 600 DPI.
- SVG - a vector file that stays sharp at any size. Use it in design tools and for large prints such as posters and banners.
- PDF - a page exactly the size of the code at the print size you choose, ready to send to a print shop.
Print sizes
Section titled “Print sizes”PNG for print and PDF open a window where you pick the print size. The size is the width of the printed artwork, frame included. Flyer (5 cm) is selected by default.
| Print size | Good for |
|---|---|
| Business card (2.5 cm) | Business cards and badges |
| Sticker (3 cm) | Labels and product packaging |
| Flyer (5 cm) | Flyers, menus and leaflets |
| Table tent (8 cm) | Table tents and counter displays |
| Poster (15 cm) | Posters, windows and signs |
Resolution (DPI)
Section titled “Resolution (DPI)”DPI is how many pixels the PNG has for each inch of print. 300 DPI suits most printers. Choose 600 for very small or very sharp prints, and 150 for drafts.
For example, the Flyer size at 300 DPI gives an image about 590 pixels wide, and the Poster size at 600 DPI about 3540 pixels wide.
SVG and PDF have no DPI setting. The code is drawn as shapes, so it stays sharp at any size. A logo uploaded as PNG, JPEG or WebP stays an image inside them, so an SVG logo prints sharpest.
Share a download link
Section titled “Share a download link”Copy share link, at the bottom of the Download menu, copies a link to the code’s PNG image. Anyone with the link can open the image without signing in. The link works for one hour, and the menu shows when it expires. Copy a new link when you need one.
Which downloads your plan includes
Section titled “Which downloads your plan includes”PNG and the share link are available on every plan. PNG for print, SVG and PDF need the Starter plan or higher. On a plan without them, the download stops with a message that it is not available on your current plan, next to a link to the plans.
Downloading from the free QR Code Generator
Section titled “Downloading from the free QR Code Generator”The QR Code Generator on the Posty5 website downloads PNG and PNG for print without an account. Its print sizes also include a custom width from 20 to 500 mm, and it warns you when a size and DPI would make an image too large to download there. For SVG and PDF, sign in and download the code from your dashboard.
Before you print
Section titled “Before you print”The Scannability card checks these points for you. When you open PNG for print or PDF from a code’s details page, the window shows the card for the size you pick.
- Contrast - keep the code clearly darker than its background. A light code on a dark background is inverted, and some scanner apps cannot read it.
- Margin - leave an empty border of at least 4 modules (the code’s small squares) around the code, or print it on a plain background.
- Size - each module should print at least 0.5 mm wide. Long content makes more and smaller modules, so print larger or shorten the content.
- Logo - keep it within the limit for the code’s error-correction level, explained under Check scannability on the How to Use page.
- Dot size - keep the Dot Size slider at 0.7 or higher.
- Test - print one copy at the final size and scan it with two or three phones before you print the whole batch.
