Payments
How payments work
Section titled “How payments work”A customer can pay with a gateway only when three things are true,
- The gateway is connected to your store with your own account at that gateway.
- It is switched on for your store (Store availability).
- It is assigned to the customer’s country on the shipping page.
Connect a gateway
Section titled “Connect a gateway”Open Payments → Payment gateways and integrations. The page lists every gateway Posty5 supports; filter by country or payment method to find the ones that work where you sell.
-
Pick the gateway
Section titled “Pick the gateway”Each card shows the countries, payment methods and features the gateway supports, such as refunds and partial refunds. If a gateway cannot take payments in your store currency, its card tells you.
-
Choose Test or Live
Section titled “Choose Test or Live”Test mode uses the gateway’s test credentials and takes no real money. Live mode takes real payments. New connections start in Test.
-
Enter your credentials
Section titled “Enter your credentials”Copy the keys from your account at the gateway into the form. Posty5 checks them with the gateway and stores them encrypted. If the gateway refuses them, nothing is saved.
-
Add the webhook URL at the gateway
Section titled “Add the webhook URL at the gateway”After connecting, copy the webhook URL shown on the card and add it in your gateway account. This is how the gateway tells your store that a payment succeeded or failed. If the gateway gives you a webhook secret, save it on the card too.
-
Switch it on
Section titled “Switch it on”Turn on Store availability on the gateway’s card when you are ready for customers to use it.
Cash on delivery
Section titled “Cash on delivery”Cash on delivery is connected like any other gateway, find Cash on delivery in the gateway list and connect it. It needs no keys. Then switch it on and assign it to your countries, the same as the others.
If you book parcels through a carrier, the carrier collects the cash for you. Only some carriers support cash on delivery — see the carriers section of the shipping page.
Manage a connected gateway
Section titled “Manage a connected gateway”Each connected gateway’s card lets you,
- Test the connection — Posty5 asks the gateway whether your credentials still work.
- Replace the credentials, for example when you move from Test to Live keys.
- Switch it on or off for your store without losing its credentials.
- Disconnect it. Its stored credentials are removed, so reconnecting means entering them again. Countries that used it switch to another connected gateway.
Choose which gateways each country sees
Section titled “Choose which gateways each country sees”Gateways are assigned per country on the shipping page. Open a country and use its Payment methods card to add or remove gateways.
When you connect a gateway, Posty5 adds it to the countries it supports automatically. Assign available providers, under the country list, does the same in one click for everything already connected.
At checkout, a customer sees only the gateways that are connected, switched on and assigned to the country they deliver to.
Transactions
Section titled “Transactions”Payments → Transactions lists every payment attempt in your store, with its order, gateway, amount and result. Use it to find a payment, check why one failed, or follow a refund.
Refunds
Section titled “Refunds”Refund a payment from the order’s page, in its payments section. You can refund the full amount, or part of it when the gateway supports partial refunds. The money goes back through the same gateway.
